Position: Lifeguard & Water Safety Instructor

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Lifeguard - at least 15 years of age. WSI - at least 17 years of age.
2. Ability to supervise and teach swimming.
3. Interest, knowledge and skills in the specific field and the ability to teach and enthuse others.
4. Valid Lifeguard/WSI and CPR and First Aid certification. Lifeguard, First Aid & CPR training available.
5. Knowledge of pool maintenance.
6. Required to attend camp for eight weeks of the camp season. Eligible to receive a salary.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Pool Director and Camp Director.

GENERAL (BROAD) RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer a safe and meaningful program in the specialization area.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administer a safe and meaningful swim program geared to the ages and abilities of the campers.
2. Teach swimming to multiple groups of campers.
3. Administer comprehensive swim program for the camp according to the guidelines of the American Red Cross.
4. Teach and train staff new Lifeguards to participate in the swim program.
5. Supervise pool and water slide during swim periods.
6. Assist in other parts of the camp program.
7. Assist in checking equipment and making or filing repairs.
8. Assist in conducting initial and end of season inventory, storing, and keeping equipment in good condition.
9. Keep records on all campers, help them progress and fill out progress reports.
10. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be re-assigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
