Position: Junior Counselor
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Junior Counselor must be entering 10th grade for coming camp season.
2. Required to attend camp for eight weeks of the camp season. Eligible to receive a salary.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Counselor or Senior Specialist and all administrative personnel.
GENERAL (BROAD) RESPONSIBILITIES:
Junior Counselors work with a group of campers or in a specific specialty area i.e. Arts & Crafts, lacrosse, etc. They are responsible for assisting the Senior Counselor or Senior Specialist throughout the day. Junior Counselors are rated on the basis of responsibility, dependability, maturity, initiative, enthusiasm, and attendance. Only those receiving an excellent rating will be invited to return the following season.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Arrive in camp no later than 9:20 a.m.
2. Meet and assist the children in getting to their bunks.
3. Assist in getting the groups together and leading them to the assembly area.
4. Remain with the groups or specialty area throughout the day and assist the Senior Counselors or Specialists in every capacity.
5. Possibly serve as waiters and waitresses for their group during lunch.
6. Never set policy, discipline or reprimand a child.
7. Bring all situations and problems to the immediate attention of the Counselor or Specialist.
8. Give their full cooperation in all matters concerning the welfare of the children.
9. Act as a professional counselor at all times.
10. Assist the specialists at their respective activities.
11. Remain with the group during all assemblies.
12. Escort each child to his or her driver at dismissal.
13. These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be re-assigned and other duties may be assigned as required.
